【Abstract】Objective We investigated the incidence of depression and its related factors in maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients. Methods A total of 122 MHD patients were divided into depression group or normal group based on Hamilton scale (HAMD). The authors analyzed depression related factors by comparing gender, age, payment type of medical expenses, marriage, education and employment between the two groups. Results Depression occurred in 66.4% MHD patients. There were no differences in gender, age, payment type of medical expenses, and marriage (P>0.05), but were significant differences in education level and employment status (P<0.05) between the two groups. Conclusion Depression is a common symptom in MHD patients. Depression is related to the education level and employment status of the MHD patients.
